Throughout the rise of the Empire there were many and exciting things that took place. In 753 BC Rome was first founded by Romulus. He was the first of all seven kings. Romes original names was Roma. After Rome was found the king got expelled and Rome is now ruled by senators. There is a constitution with laws and Rome becomes a complex republican government. Hannibal was a Carthaginian military commander. His father Hamilcar Barca was the leader of the Carthaginian war during the first Punic war. While Hannibal leads the Carthaginian army to invade and attack Italy, which is part of the second Punic war. During a civil war Julius Caesar defeats Pompey. He then becomes the supreme ruler of Rome.This is the end of the Roman republic. The 12 month calender is also created by an Egyptian astronomer named Sosigenes. Around 44 BC Julius Caesar is assassinated. He got killed by his senator, they plotted this plan behind is back without him knowing. After all of these tragic events Octavian decides to call himself "Augustus", which also means the first emperor. The Roman Empire empire starts and builds at this time. While Rome is growing and becoming an even bigger empire a horrible event happened, most of Rome burned down. Nero set fire to Rome and blamed the Christians for his wrong doing. They believe what he said and start to kill all of the Christians. They start throwing them in animal pits and watching them die. Slowly Rome started to recover from this happening, the Colosseum is built. They decided to celebrate this building with a 100 days of games. A wall was also built to keep the Barbarians out. After all the christians had got killed Rome became a christian empire. Rome then split into two different empire- the Western Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire. Each Empire had a different ruler. When Rome was doing so good they fall to the enemy, the Visigoths. It caused a huge war and outrage across the empire. Both the Western and Eastern empire fall. Augustus gets defeated by German Goth Odoacer. This fall of the Roman Empire was also known as the "Dark Ages".
